Harnessing the Power of Total Quality Management to Achieve Unparalleled Excellence in the Saudi Construction Industry

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a crucial approach for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction in the construction industry. This study investigates the adoption and implementation of TQM in the Saudi construction sector, focusing on its impact on project performance and its role in achieving Saudi Vision 2030 objectives. Using a quantitative research approach, data were collected from a sample of 200 construction professionals across Saudi Arabia through a structured questionnaire. The analysis, which involved descriptive and inferential statistical methods, revealed that while TQM adoption is relatively high, challenges remain in employee training and interdepartmental collaboration. Leadership commitment, worker safety improvements, and innovation emerged as key factors influencing successful TQM implementation. The study confirmed that TQM positively impacts project efficiency, reduces maintenance and rework costs, and enhances customer satisfaction. Furthermore, it plays a significant role in supporting Saudi Vision 2030 by improving construction quality, attracting foreign investment, and promoting sustainable development. However, barriers such as resistance to change, inadequate training, and limited cross-departmental cooperation hinder its full implementation. Based on these findings, the study recommends enhancing employee training, strengthening leadership engagement, improving collaboration between departments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and aligning quality management strategies with national development goals. Addressing these challenges will allow the Saudi construction industry to maximize the benefits of TQM and contribute to long-term economic growth and infrastructure excellence. Future research could explore the impact of digital transformation on TQM practices and examine variations in TQM adoption across different construction sectors.
